KOPPERT Aphidend

Target:A wide range of aphid species. APHIDEND is recommended especially when aphid colonies are present.

Unit of packaging:  Each bottle contains black pupae mixed with wood fiber

  • 100 ml bottle, hatches up to 2,000 gall-midges
  • 500 ml bottle, hatches up to 10,000 gall-midges

Application Aphidend

  • Open the bottle of Aphidend in the greenhouse
  • Place the bottle directly on the soil or hang it in between the plants to keep it out of reach of ants.
  • Do not scatter the contents!
  • Once hatched, the gall-midges will leave the bottle and spread
  • One bottle of Aphidend has a range of approximately 3,000 m2. The 500 ml bottle introduces at least three gall-midges per m2.
  • Use the peel-off label to mark where the product has been introduced

Environmental conditions:  High relative humidities give better effects. The night temperature has to be above 16°C/61°F for oviposition.

Storage and handling

  • storage after receipt: 1-2 days
  • storage temperature: 10-15°C/50-59°F
  • in the dark

  • when the soil is covered with plastic, population build up cannot take place. The material has to be introduced weekly until control is achieved
  • do not introduce as long as banker plants still produce sufficient aphid parasites

  • Adults: size 2.5 mm, fragile, long legs
  • Eggs: oblong, size 0.1x0.3 mm, shiny, orange-red
  • Larvae: size 0.3-3 mm, orange, in aphid colonies
  • Pupae: in soil

Mode of action:  Adult gall-midges are active at night and are attracted to aphid colonies by the smell of honeydew. Eggs are deposited in the aphid colonies. Larvae paralyse the aphids and suck out their contents.

Visual effect:  Aphids killed by the larvae hang on the leaf, connected by their mouthparts. Consequently they shrivel, turn brown or black and decay.

Important!  The introduction rates of this product should be adjusted to the mode of action of the product and the results that can be expected in the crop where the product is applied. Your local Koppert consultant will be able to advise you further.
