Neoseiulus (=Amblyseius) californicus

 

Predatory mite Neoseiulus (Amblyseius) californicus targets the two-spotted spider mite (Tetranychus urticae, TSM), and has also shown predation on:

  • fruit tree red spider mite, also known as European red mite (Panonychus ulmi)
  • citrus red mite (Panonynchus citri)
  • broad mite (Polyphagotarsonemus latus)
  • cyclamen mite (Tarsonemus pallidus)

These predatory mites also survive on other mites and pollen, can survive for a number of weeks without food, and tolerates high temperatures and low humidity.

Unit of packaging:  5k and 25k / bottle w/feeder mites

Typical application rates:  The introduction rates of this product should be adjusted to the mode of action of the product and the results that can be expected in the crop where the product is applied. Your consultant will be able to advise you further.

Remarks:  for curative control of TSM, use N. californicus in conjunction with P. persimilis

Environmental conditions:  N. (Amblyseius) californicus tolerates high temperatures and low humidities.

Introduction:

  • turn and shake the bottle gently before use
  • sprinkle material on leaves
  • in low crops it is possible to distribute mechanically by means of a mite blower

Storage and handling

  • storage after receipt: 1-2 days
  • storage temperature: 8-10°C/47-50°F
  • in the dark (bottles horizontally)

Appearance

  • Mobile stages: transparant white-orange to yellow, droplet shaped, short legs, looks like Amblyseius cucumeris
  • Eggs: oblong, transparant to white, attached to hairs along veins on the underside of leaves

Mode of action:  Adult predatory mites, nymphs and larvae actively search for their prey and suck them empty.

Precautions: inhalation of product may cause sensitization in case of mechanical application. Dust mask is recommended as protection for operator and people working near place of application.
